REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL/DESCRIPTION: The Blended Learning and Digital Enhancement (BLADE) Facilitator is a teacher who has both content and instructional expertise particularly in technology as it relates to reading, math, science, social studies, and specialized disciplines. This person facilitates the district's professional development model by demonstrating lessons, observing classroom instruction, and coaching teachers one-on-one. The BLADE Facilitator focuses on enhancing teacher ability to provide instruction that (1) builds student understanding and skills, (2) is academically rigorous, (3) addresses the curriculum standards and frameworks, and (4) enhances student sense of engagement in and ownership of learning. The BLADE Facilitator, together with administrators and classroom teachers, looks at student work and designs standards-based, high-quality instruction with technology integration. The BLADE Facilitator serves as a member of a building leadership team working to align district and building goals and to evaluate student data in support of effective school improvement planning. This individual work collaboratively with other instructional leaders to design and deliver professional development as directed. As a member of a professional coaching community, the BLADE Facilitator participates in professional development and inquiry into his or her own instructional leadership practice.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Implements a collaborative coaching and learning approach
2. Assists teaches and non-certified personnel in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices
3. Models effective, differentiated instruction
4. Provides individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to integrate technology resources while implementing good instructional practices
5. Facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) among teachers and non-certified personnel in which issues related to implementing effective content instruction and technology integration are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, engaging lessons are planned, and student work and data are reviewed to inform instruction
6. Facilitates grade-level meetings in which issues related to implementing effective content, skills and problem solving instruction are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, and student work and data are reviewed
7. Coordinates deployment of devices with Director of Innovation
8. Collaborates with teacher leaders in goal setting and professional training around student learning
9. Provides comprehensive/balanced training in and across given subject areas and curricular areas as it relates to technology
10. Participates fully in professional development including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions
11. Assists teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments
12. Attends district-level and state-level meetings pertaining to the duties of the job
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Innovation
