REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Elementary Education and School Counselors

JOB GOAL: To support school administrators, classroom teachers, and parents with behavior interventions, community resources, and to aid in the transition of students between grade spans.


1. Observes upon referral from counselors, principals, and other school personnel students in the classroom setting demonstrating inappropriate behaviors
2. Consults with classroom teachers and other school administrators and support personnel about effective behavioral prevention strategies to decrease frequency of disruptive behaviors
3. Conducts professional development sessions for teachers and parent groups on developmentally appropriate behavioral prevention and intervention strategies
4. Attends case management meetings with school staff and parents meeting to discuss student referrals and concerns
5. Collaborates with mental health personnel in referring students with more severe emotional/behavioral issues
6. Provides techniques for teachers and other school personnel in de-escalating student conflicts
7. Provides consultative services for teachers in developing psychologically comfortable learning environments
8. Administers a variety of classroom and individual emotional/behavioral screening and assessment instruments
9. Delivers effective parent training workshops upon request
10. Recommends and refers, based upon parental permission, a variety of community resources for students and families needing assistance
11. Facilitates a smoother transition for identified at-risk students going from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school by working with counselors, principals, and teachers
12. Models behavioral management techniques for teachers
13. Performs other related duties assigned by the Supervisor of Elementary Education and Counseling
