3. Accreditation by School Food Nutrition Services, desired

4. Certified by TDOE in School Nutrition, preferred

REPORTS TO: Director of Business Operations

JOB GOAL: Works to ensure that students receive satisfying and healthy meals that meet all state and federal guidelines.


  1. Ensures that all school cafeterias comply with the policies, practices, and procedures of the Cleveland City Schools School Nutrition Department as well as the Cleveland City Schools Board of Education policies and state and federal requirements.
  2. Ensures all cafeterias prepare and serve the highest quality meals and provide the highest quality service.
  3. Works cooperatively with school nutrition partners to ensure quality of service for our customers and staff.
  4. Maintains high safety and sanitation standards.
  5. Develops nutritionally sound menus based on USDA Dietary Guidelines Implements and manages the free/reduced price meal application system.
  6. Trains, advises, and monitors the maintenance of a safe and sanitary work environment in the school cafeterias.
  7. Establishes uniform rules for school nutrition personnel.
  8. Recommends new/replacement staff and staffing assignments to the HR Department.
  9. Supports managers in the area of personnel management, work scheduling, employee training and evaluation.
  10. Develops/defines job descriptions and salary schedules for staff in consultation with the HR Department.
  11. Conducts manager performance review.
  12. Prepares bids and purchases procedures.
  13. Develops annual budget for School Nutrition Services.
  14. Maintains and oversees necessary accounting information relative to school nutrition, controlling costs and maximizing resources to ensure a financially sound program.
  15. Ensures employee compensation and benefit programs are maintained and implemented accurately.
  16. Submits reports required by state and federal agencies.
  17. Oversees the acceptance and distribution of USDA commodity foods.
  18. Supervises the campus managers in purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and financial management.
  19. Ensures the proper maintenance and purchase of equipment.
  20. Makes recommendations in the case of new facility construction or renovation of existing facilities to the Director of Operations.
  21. Provides nutrition education resources to faculty and staff.
  22. Coordinates and implements special functions.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Schools and/or Director of Business Management.
